From February 28th to March 3rd 2019 "Welcome", the International Improv Festival, is back in Rome, now in its sixth edition!
New stories and new worlds are about to come to life on stage,
Seven internationally renowned artists will cover a total of 37673 kilometers to get in Rome from all corners of the globe, from Canada to Australia, passing through Illinois, France and England, all sharing the same goal: to be part of the cast of the sixth edition of "Welcome!". Here they are:
There is something very special about Welcome, it felt like home to me. I was surrounded by curiosity and amazing hospitality, and instantly felt like a member of the Bugiardini family.
At Welcome everything is about hospitality and knowledge. It's a festival designed for people, where the elegance of the artistic choices turns into simplicity and makes it a warm and welcoming place in every aspect.
I'm a consistent festivals’ participant and Welcome is absolutely one of my favorites. The organization is extraordinary and you feel at home, the guests are always of an excellent level and the training path is stimulating. I've been enrolled for two consecutive years and I already have an email ready to enroll to the next edition!
An extraordinary experience for sure. You find yourself living, literally, the world of improvisation. Language is not able to fully render the emotions and sensations that the Welcome leaves you! You have to do it to understand it!
During the days of the festival I was given the opportunity to improvise without thinking too much (unlike I usually do) because I felt part of the improvisers clan! Welcome is the festival where a "mistake" I made during a game became the "new rule of the game"!
Welcome is a very interesting educational experience. We approach different "styles" and different "philosophies" of improvisation that are nourishment for all improvisers with any kind of previous experience
After three years that I return there, for me Welcome remains the improv festival not to be missed: neither too big, nor too small, perfect to get in touch with new improvisers and ways of improvising. It's worth signing up even just for the Improv hour!
At the Welcome festival I’ve met so many lovely people, rediscovered the pleasure of being on stage as it was a game and not a job, and I have also learnt some new things to collect in my improviser’s backpack! If somebody or something made you fall out of love with this art… go to Welcome and fall in love with it again!
